Resident evil outbreak is now fully online and playable through the web browser.

Dude, this is actually pretty wild to me.
I remember back around 2013–2014, there was this whole community project dedicated to bringing the original Resident Evil Outbreak games back online after Capcom had shut down the official PlayStation 2 servers.
And when I say it was a pain in the ass to get working, I mean it. LOL.
You had to use PCSX2 to emulate a PlayStation 2, track down specifically the Japanese versions of Biohazard Outbreak File #1 and File #2, mess around with Japanese BIOS files, English translation patches, network configurations, DNS settings, and register an account through a custom website just to connect to these fan-made servers.
The crazy part was that a handful of dedicated fans had actually reverse-engineered the original Japanese online infrastructure and recreated the servers themselves. It was an impressive accomplishment, especially considering these were games that Capcom had essentially abandoned.
And it actually WORKED. You could play both Outbreak games online with other people again. The whole setup was just ridiculously involved for somebody who wanted to jump into a few rounds of classic Resident Evil.
Well, fast-forward about 12 or 13 years, and some dude has apparently managed to take that entire experience and make it playable straight from a freaking WEB BROWSER.
I'm not kidding. Both Resident Evil Outbreak games, all ten scenarios, complete with functioning online multiplayer. No installing PCSX2, no hunting down Japanese copies, no screwing around with BIOS files, no complicated server setup, and no elaborate account registration.
You literally just open a website, pick which Outbreak game you want to play, and you're off. You can even create rooms and play with other people online.
Think about how ridiculous that is. We went from needing a whole damn tutorial just to get past the original game's network login screen, to being able to play the entire thing inside a browser tab.
And this isn't some official Capcom remaster or rerelease, either. It's another fan-made project.
I just think it's absolutely insane how far this stuff has come. Resident Evil Outbreak was honestly WAY ahead of its time, and it's pretty awesome seeing people still finding ways to keep these games alive over two decades later.
Anyway, here's the website if anybody wants to check it out:
Pretty damn cool.
